INTRODUCTION - THE SCALE COLLECTIVE

Happy New Year and welcome to our first blog post! These will be on various topics - some more formal and more informal than others, and feature various topics ranging from: design insights, events, interviews and spolights on some of our favorite artists & makers whose work we adore. We wanted to formally introduce our company and tell you all about how we came to about, as well as a bit about our company ethos, our process and some of the things that set us apart in the interior design industry.

We have a narrative driven process: this means we use imagery to create a story and an idea early on in our projects. From this narrative we create space plans, detailed architectural elevations, plans, material boards and renderings which help us in selecting materials, finishes, fabrics and lighting so the project is wholistically thought through, both in function and in the design. Art is a focal point in our work and early on we establish moments in the project where work will be highlighted. We are constantly viewing art shows, going to events and have retionships with established and up and coming artists who work with us to realize a complete vision for our clients and our projects. We love large scale paintings, murals, textile work and installation art and feel it is especially transformative to spaces and creates a feeling of living inside an artful and inspirational experience.

The Scale Collective is a design firm founded on the principle of elevating the everyday human experience. We are driven by curiosity and the overlapping worlds of art, architcture, and music. As our name implies, the interplay of ‘scale’ of various objects in space is paramount in our work to create dynamic and sculptural interiors is paramount to our design ethos. We are passionate about incorporating the work of artists + artisans into our projects, and get especially excited in creating large scale custom art installations and interventions in our projects. We believe art makes the space, and view furniture as sculpture.

We work in a variety of styles and influences, but are known for our blend of a relaxed California feel meets European sensibilities and style. We believe that a sense of place and the natural elements inform our design decisions, and our aesthetic can be described as: sculptural, modern, sinuous, earthen, and organic. We focus on interior design, interior architecture, & art consulting. If you would like to inquire about design services or a consultation, please get in touch with us!

Thanks for your support and following along on our creative Journey.
