la penthouse: interiors LOS ANGELES

We are delighted to share that the Spring 2024 issue of Interiors Los Angeles: ‘Best of Design’, features a 6 page spread of our Los Angeles Penthouse, and is out on newstands in southern California now! This project is near and dear to our heart. Sara started this project during the pandemic, when we didn’t know what would happen or how life would unfold — we are happy that life has gotten back to a version of normal.

The LA Penthouse was conceived as a multifaceted haven — a sanctuary for the client to return to after her frequent travels and a space to host gatherings for family and friends. The design sought to strike a balance between relaxation and entertainment, ensuring the atmosphere was inviting without being overly formal.

Situated high up in the sky, overlooking the rolling hills the Los Angeles Country Club with sweeping views of the city and the ocean, the feeling of being in the clouds was a key element in our concept of the project early on. The sense of place and the way the light moved through the space from morning until night informed how we designed the home, around earthen, soft, natural materials. The goal was to make one feel enveloped in a cloud, in a home that was a sanctuary and most of all a livable space that felt warm, cozy, feminine as well as an inspring place to work and come up with new ideas.

The design included an emphasis on modern, sculptural details and forms, feminine curves, complemented by a neutral and warm color palette. Layers of textures added depth and sophistication, creating an environment that felt both comfortable and chic. Art emerged early on as a central feature, serving as focal points throughout the space and injecting vibrant pops of color to enhance the overall ambiance.

This design journey serves as a testament to the power of a clean slate—a canvas upon which dreams and inspirations are brought to life.
